Kitchen Remodeling

For Christmas of 2007 my parents gave Brad & I the gift of new countertops in our kitchen. Our old formica was looking pretty sad and cracking in several places & our old island was poorly designed so we were looking to expand the space so that we could eat/serve from it. We frequently serve large numbers for meals, so I was most excited to have the island expanded.

With so much travel back and forth to Germany, etc we had been putting off the installation for the last 15 months. We decided that now we are home all the time..this would be a great time to have them put in.

I wish I had taken a before picture of the old countertops...I didn't think of that until after the new ones were already installed. Then you could have really been impressed by the transformation. Now you will just have to use your imagination...the kitchen walls used to be green, the sink was scratched in multiple places, the island was tiny, and the counters were off-white. NOW...you can see the final product in the pictures below. Tah Dah!

This is the pre-backsplash installation picture.

This is a picture of my sweet friend Vanessa, helping me put up new script in my kitchen. Thank goodness for her help...if it had been left up to me, I'm sure the scripts wouldn't have been hung for months. Thank you Vanessa!! If you ever need great wall decoration ideas, you should go to her Uppercase Living website to look at all they offer...SO many cute ideas!

YEAH for my brand-new kitchen...I just LOVE it! Thanks Mom & Dad!

Oh my word, it looks fantastic! What a great gift! I hate when counter tops (like mine) don't ever look clean when you wipe them because of all of the chips. I can't wait to see it in person!
