In December I went on a high-pointing trip to Mississippi (wasn't much to look at), Alabama, Georgia & South Carolina. My favorite stop was definately the climb up to Georgia's high point. The weather was really cold and snowy...it made for some great picture taking opportunities. The Tennessee high point was also on the agenda but the area had received so much snow just before the trip that we couldn't drive up to the pass to make the 13 mile snow hike. If we had attempted the climb from the base of the mountain it would have been 24 miles round trip and over a 6000 foot ascent....in the snow. That really didn't sound fun to me so I skipped that one. :)
Brasstown Bald, the Georgia climb was the best and most of these pictures are from that state.....
The views were so spectacular on this climb....everything looked like something out of a picture book to me. This was the closed ranger station towards the top of the mountain.
It was so cold and frosty on this hike that my hair was covered in frost-sicles after we were done...it was crunchy/frozen.
27 degrees.....BurRRRR!
I'm thinking there must be a really cold spider somewhere.....
The South Carolina high point
Me kissing a bull's hynee outside of a very yummy steakhouse!
