A Day In The Life of Kaelyn Denise

Zeke was sick a few weeks back and while I was tending to him, Kaelyn was left to her own devices. These are a few of the things that she did to entertain herself while I was distracted with her brother.

#1 Used the barstool to climb into my kitchen sink. Then removed her "dirty" diaper and proceeded to clean herself off with the kitchen sprayer...along with most of the kitchen (she did this twice)
#2 Used the barstool along with climbing the shelves to help herself to a snack
#3 Found a beautiful shade of bronze 607 and decided to cover herself from head to toe in it....along with my floor, walls, cabinets, fridge, & shelves.
#4 Removed multiple pages out of the spiral binding of a book that I loved.

It was a that point as I was still cleaning up after the first "creative entertainment attempts" that I decided to put her in her room and shut the door. (She hasn't yet quite figured out how to open that...it will only be a matter of time). As I was scrubbing foundation from the grout on my floor, I could hear her crying from her room. After about 5 minutes the crying stopped. I walked to her room and put my ear to the door...nothing. I opened the door to see that Kaelyn had climbed into her crib & had put herself to sleep. I thought this was a wise choice on her part. I believe it helped her live through the day. :)

This face says it all...it has TROUBLE written ALL over IT!

Back-Flips with Kendall

Kendall & I were practicing our back-flips into the pool last weekend. She was asking me for pointers at the beginning, but before we were finished she was teaching me. She is a FAST learner! Look at her go!

Party Pics

Last weekend we celebrated Zeke's "half-birthday" (5 1/2) along with Callie's 6 year birthday. We had our family and lots of friends join us for a pool party celebration. It was plenty warm enough so the kids played in the pool almost the entire time...it was lots of fun!

Zeke & his daddy shared December birthdays (Brad-Dec 6th & Zeke Dec 28th) and just after Zeke was born Brad insisted that we start the tradition of celebrating Zeke's birthday in June. Brad always felt that having a birthday so close to Christmas was a terrible time....everyone is focused on the holidays plus he felt that it was either feast of famine when it came to gifts during the year.

Brad's presence was greatly missed over the weekend. The birthday party was Saturday and Father's Day was Sunday. I was so thankful to have Lisa's help in organizing everything for the joint celebration....Brad always did the bulk of the party brainstorming/planning so I certainly missed all of his help this year. Holidays and celebrations were always SO exciting to him...I truly think that he was more excited than the kids for most events.

As I watched Zeke blow out his candles I thought about how much I wanted Brad there with us in that moment. Then I paused and thought about the celebration that he must be enjoying right now, alongside of Christ...and I can only imagine all the fun he must be having.

My New Water Baby

Starting this past weekend, Kaelyn has finally become a lot more comfortable in the water. Yay! During Zeke's birthday party she found a tube to float in and used it the whole time...kicking all of the place. She even let me do tricks with her for the first time...FUN!

*After I posted this blog entry...I had to laugh. I must really like red tops with ruffles because if you look to the right the shirt I am wearing in our family picture looks A LOT like my swimsuit...funny. :)

A Visit to See The Dayton's

Two weeks ago the kids and I drove to Fort Worth to spend time with my friend Amber and her family. We chose that week to visit so that Zeke and K could be a part of Richland Hills VBS....that was a lot of fun. R.H. does VBS in a BIG way...lots of fun decorations like I have never seen before and a huge musical production each night to retell the Bible story. It was really neat.

It was great to get to spend time with Amber, Anna, & Maely during the day too...we spent time outside playing in the sand, on the playgym, and with the sprinkler on the trampoline. The kids had a great time.

Wims Fun Run

On March 7th, Clear Creek High School hosted a "5K Walk/Run" benefit in Brad's honor to raise funds for our family. The bottom pictures are those that were taken at the event.

On May 14th our family was invited to the school for a presentation where they gave us the check for the fundraising. The "Wims Fun Run" ended up raising $10,000...what an amazing testimony to the love and support that continues to uphold our family. We are so blessed by so many wonderful friends and family. Thank you so much for your support and generosity.
